There are two types of home insurance: buildings and contents.
Buildings insurance protects you if there is structural damage to your home. Leaking roofs, damaged walls and broken windows are all expensive to repair. Building insurance helps to cover the cost.
Contents insurance covers items in your home that become damaged or stolen, including electronics, jewellery, clothing and furniture. Some content insurance policies also cover possessions that are lost or damaged outside of your home.
You can choose to take out combined buildings and contents home insurance or separate policies.
